Whilst I worked at Abacus, many large publishing companies were moving their paper monthly magazines to an online presence. My job was to design websites for these magazines which would move them into the CMS world of the internet.
This involved meeting with the client to discuss the required design, creating the design and making any changes with them until they were happy.
Then the designs were applied to a publishing CMS – InVision – and checked to make sure they were as expected.
During this time I worked on developing creative concepts and designing websites for large publishing companies such as Centaur, CMPi, UBM and Macmillan.
Amongst other brands, I worked on Design Week, Retail Week, London Loves Business and The Engineer websites.
Other sites I worked on were:
- www.building.co.uk – The site was built around templates on Webvision CMS for the UBM group
- www.onestopenglish.com – a site for english teachers for Macmillan Publishers
- www.designweek.co.uk – Design story magazine replacing the paper magazine of the same name
